Some people do not want to hire a pianist. They want to sit down at the instrument themselves — at their own wedding, at a parent's anniversary, at a daughter's reception — and play one piece properly, from beginning to end, in front of the people they love.
That is what this is. Not a course, not a term of lessons you have to keep paying for. One piece, one date, and the shortest honest road from where your hands are now to playing it without the music falling apart halfway through.
What usually happens
You arrive with a piece in mind, or with nothing but a feeling about the kind of music you want. We listen to a few options and pick one that fits two things at once: it moves you, and your hands can realistically hold it by the date. If the piece you chose is out of reach for the time you have, you will be told that at the first lesson, not three weeks before the wedding.
From there the work is unglamorous and effective. The piece gets taken apart into sections, the hard bars get fixed first instead of last, and the whole thing gets played start to finish, out loud, to another person, well before the day itself. Nerves are not cured by hoping. They are cured by having already done it.
Who this works for
Complete beginners
You have never played. With enough lead time and a well-chosen piece, this is very possible — the choice of piece does most of the work.
Returners
You played as a child and stopped. Reading usually comes back faster than you expect; the hands take a little longer.
Parents and siblings
Playing at someone else's wedding — often as the surprise nobody in the family knows about until the day.
Couples
A duet, one part each. It takes longer than a solo and it is worth it.
How much time you need
Honestly: it depends on the piece and on how many days a week you can touch the piano, and anyone who gives you a number without hearing you play is guessing. Three months is comfortable for most pieces. Six weeks is possible with the right choice and real practice. Two weeks is a different request, and the answer is to pick a much simpler piece and play it beautifully rather than a famous one badly.

Choosing who teaches you
Ask who will actually be at the piano with you, what their own performing record is, and whether you will play the piece for someone before the day. A teacher who performs has stood in front of an audience with a memory slip and knows how to build a performance that survives one.
